Talk:Fox News Channel
From dKosopedia
What, no Fair and Balanced?
Greetings to all. I'm currently having a dispute with 2 (possibly right-wing) other users on Wikipedia over the entry on FOX News. The dispute can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:FOX_News#PIPA_Counter-arguments
In short, the original article (before I edited) contained counter-arguments to each of the three questions PIPA asked of FOX News viewers:
A study by the Program on International Policy Attitudes reports that, even after adjusting for viewership and political preference, viewers of FOX News were more likely than the viewers of any other network to hold three beliefs, which it labels "misperceptions" [1] (PDF):
- that the US has found clear evidence in Iraq that Saddam Hussein was working closely with the al Qaeda terrorist organization
- However, in the same document PIPA admits that “a few al-Qaeda individuals visited Iraq or had contact with Iraqi officials”
- That weapons of mass destruction had been discovered in Iraq
- Arguably this is not strictly a misperception, since chemical shells have been discovered and have been used in an IED (apparently inadvertently or without much knowledge of how to use them).
- That the U.S. had received wide international support in its decision to go to war.
- This misperception is not necessarily evidence of bias by Fox News, but has possible alternative explanations, such as Fox viewers not caring about world opinion, therefore paying less attention to stories about it.
As you can see, the counterpoints included by the user clearly exhibits a right-wing bias. I have attempted to remove them and explain my actions on the talk-page, but the next day, I found that 2 users have decided to remove all references to the PIPA poll. This is clearly unjustified because they are making FOX News seem as though it is unbiased.
However, I must admit I am no American and cannot contribute much to the article on FOX News. I sincerely believe a left-wing perspective is missing in the FOX article. Who knows how many other articles in Wikipedia display such a bias? In short, I need help from the Dailykos community, if they are willing to lend a helping hand. Thank you.
PS. I am sorry if this contribution to the discussion page has nothing to do with FOX News on Dkospedia at all, but I have absolutely no idea where else to get help.Ethereal 21:23, 7 Mar 2005 (PST)
Re Above:
- First, who are you and how are you expecting us to communicate with you?
- Second, Have you diaried this in dKos?
- Third, is the controversial page notice turned on over at wikipedia for the fox page?

- Since I am not an American, I can only communicate with you over the Internet. I leave my email here: defennder@hotmail.com
- Though I read daily kos everyday, for some reason I'm unable to create an account there, so I've emailed kos about it, but so far received no reply. I personally have no blog I can write a diary in.
- I've just noticed it has got worse, with the part on allegations of conservative bias removed while the allegations of liberal bias remained in the page on CNN. As for the page notice (I think you are referring to the Neutrality warning), no, it is not there.
Thank you so much for responding, I've been waiting for quite some time already. Ethereal 16:50, 9 Mar 2005 (PST)
