Faye Hanohano, a Democrat, was elected to represent the 4th representative district in the Hawaii State Legislature in 2006.

From the Hawaii Island Journal dated September 2006, Peter Serafin reports:

Hanohano works as a corrections officer at the Kulani Correctional Facility and is a union official with the Hawai'i chapter of the AFL-CIO. She was once a lecturer in Hawaiian Studies at Hawai'i Community College and holds an MBA. She would like to build a community center in Pahoa and says she will work for increased educational and outreach programs for residents.
She also favors increased police and medical services for the district, and wants the state to provide money to bring water service to areas currently without it. [1]
