Donald Carcieri

Donald Carcieri is the Republican Governor of Rhode Island. He was elected Governor in 2002, and reelected in 2006. Carcieri was born on December 16, 1942. He grew up in East Greenwich, and attended Brown University on an academic scholarship. Carcieri taught high school math, then became a banker. In 1981, he moved to Jamaica, where he headed the Catholic Relief Service's West Indies operation. After returning in 1983, he joined the Cookson America, and led to company through a period of rapid growth.

He and his wife Sue have four children and 13 grandchildren.
