Dominic Yagong

Dominic Yagong defeated incumbent Fred Holschuh by a count of 2,153 to 1,919 in the 2006 elections to represent District 1 (Hamakua) on the Hawaii County Council. Yagong has returned to the District 1 seat that he had vacated four years before. In 1996, Yagong had won the District 1 seat from Takashi Domingo and represented the district on the Council for 6 years. In 2002, Yagong left the council to " focus on his career. He is the Hawaii district manager for Foodland/Food Pantry in the Kings' Shops Whaler's General Store." [1]

Yagong has allied himself with west Hawaii county council members who have felt left out in past county councils dominated by Hilo centric councilmembers.
