Background

Diane Rosenbaum, who attended Reed College, is beginning her fourth term in the Oregon House of Representatives for District 42 in Southeast and Northeast Portland. She was recently elected Democratic Whip by her democratic colleagues in the House. During the 2005 Legislative Session, she is serving on the House Audits Committee, and on the House Environment Committee.

Rep. Rosenbaum is a member of the Women's Health and Wellness Alliance, a bi-partisan coalition of legislators and advocates promoting issues such as contraceptive parity, paid family leave, and domestic violence prevention. Rep. Rosenbaum is President of the National Labor Caucus of State Legislators and serves as a legislative member of the Oregon Hunger Relief Task Force.

Rep. Rosenbaum served as Chair and Member of the Oregon Commission for Women from 1993 to 1998. She has served on the Workers' Compensation Management-Labor Advisory Committee (MLAC), the Safe Employment Education and Training Advisory Committee of Oregon OSHA, and the Oregon State Capitol Foundation.

Rep. Rosenbaum is a retired central office technician for Qwest and a 28-year member of her union, the Communications Workers of America. She has served as President of the Coalition of Labor Union Women, Executive Board Member of the Oregon AFL-CIO and the Northwest Oregon Labor Council, and is a founding member of the Workers' Rights Board of Jobs with Justice.

Rep. Rosenbaum lives in Portland's Richmond neighborhood with her husband Jas. Adams. She enjoys sailing, canoeing, and spending time with her calico cat, Tillie, and cairn terrier, Tristan.
