Denise Matsumoto

From dKosopedia

Denise Matsumoto, was first elected to the Hawaii State Board of Education in 1988 to represent the Honolulu District. Her present term expires in 2008.

In 2000, Matsumoto sponsored an amendment that would delete "sexual orientation" as a protected category in a proposed revision to Chapter 19 Administrative Rules. The rule as written protected students in Hawaii's public schools from harassment and discrimination based on race, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, religion, disability, or sexual orientation. This anti-gay amendment did not pass a vote by the BOE.
