A funny term Darwin himself was never a proponant of Darwinism.

In modern day it can refer to a range of things from support of theory of evolution the Nazi Master race theories.

However when Repubicans use it the term is often a pejorative name for evolutionary theory, implying in the most extreme case that it is a religion based on a scriptural canon, the writings of Charles Darwin, and not in any way on science or evidence of any kind.
