Danny A. Mateo

Danny Mateo was appointed by the Maui County Council to fill the vacant council seat of the late Maui County Council Chair, Patrick S. Kawano of Molokai in 2002. Later in 2002, Mateo was elected to the seat he had been appointed to. Councilmember Mateo has been reelected to the Maui County Council in 2004 to represent Molokai.
Mateo formerly served as a community liaison for Kukui (Molokai) Inc., former owner of the Kaluakoi Resort in west Molokai, and as the economic development coordinator for Molokai under Republican Mayor Hannibal Tavares.
Councilmember Mateo is a 1970 graduate of St. Anthony High School, has an associate degree in human services from the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
