Rep. Corinne Ching (born Aug. 31, 1961), a member of the Republican Party, represents the 27th Representative District in the Hawaii State House of Representatives of the Hawaii State Legislature. The 27th district includes the Nuuanu, Puunui and Liliha areas of Honolulu on the island of Oahu. Rep. Ching was first elected to the House in 2002 and has won reelection in 2004.
Born and raised in Hawaii, Rep. Ching is a public school teacher by profession. She is a 1980 graduate of Punahou, and has a BA from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
Rep. Ching has been, in general, supportive of environmental legislation.
Ching has an extremely anti-gay legislative voting record. [1] During the 2005 legislative session, Ching voted against bills that would prohibit Hawaii's landlords and employers from discriminating against gays, lesbians or transsexuals.
