The City Tavern Club is an organization with a predominantly conservative membership. It is based in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. and is run with the intention of preserving the historic City Tavern, a historic Federal house on M Street. Founding Fathers, such as James Madison and Thomas Jefferson, used to frequent the Tavern. The City Tavern Club boasts membership of Supreme Court Justices Scalia, Kennedy, and Breyer, as well as many members of Congress and administration officials. The majority of its members are high-profile members of the Republican Party.
