Brian Kennedy is an attorney and former Chairman of the Republican Party of Iowa. He is also the founder of Progress for America, a partisan advocacy group working to support President Bush. Kennedy ran for the Republican nomination for Iowa's First Congressional District (IA-01) seat, see Iowa Federal elections, 2006; however, he lost the primary to Mike Whalen. He ran primarily as a nativist, i.e. against illegal immigration.

Background

Kennedy is a long-distance runner and has completed several marathons. He and his wife Beth have one child.
