Barney Menor

Barney B. Menor, (b. 1931 - d. 1999), a Democrat, was first elected to the Hawaii State House of Representatives from the Pauoa-Punchbowl district in 1964, served in the House through 1970 and as vice speaker in his last term.
Menor was elected a delegate to the 1968 Hawaii State constitutional convention. In 1976 he was appointed by Hawaii County Mayor Herbert Matayoshi to be his deputy managing director. Additionally, he served as managing director under Mayor Megumi Kon, who was elevated from managing director to Big Island mayor for a few months in 1984 when then-Mayor Matayoshi resigned to run for the Hawaii State Senate. Menor grew up in Pahoa on the Big Island. He graduated from the University of Hawaii in 1953, later serving in the Army from 1953 to 1955 as a training officer at Fort Ord, Calif. [2]
Menor was a member of the Chaminade University Board of Regents and served two terms as president of the Honolulu Filipino Chamber of Commerce. A real estate broker since 1959, he was retained by Puna Geothermal Venture on the Big Island as land manager and land consultant. [3]
The younger brother of Benjamin Menor, the late state associate Supreme Court justice and former state senator, Barney Menor also has a nephew in the Legislature, state Rep. Ron Menor. [4]
