From dKosopedia
Avelino J. Halagao was the Democratic candidate for Hawaii’s 17th Representative District of the Hawaii State Legislature in the 2006 elections. The 17th district includes Hawaii Kai and Kalama Valley. Halagao lost his bid for the 17th district seat.
The following are from the Halagao campaign website:
- "I am a lawyer, a businessman, an educator, a former criminal prosecutor, a volunteer and a family man."
- "I’m running for the State Legislature because I want to be a public servant, not a politician. Public service is something I’ve dedicated myself to throughout my life. Ultimately, I want to serve as a fresh and effective voice in the Legislature for all Hawaii Kai."
- "If elected, the issues I’ll fight for are the same ones that concern me now as a private citizen – protecting our environment, including preserving the Ka Iwi coastline and Kamilonui Valley, strengthening and diversifying our economy, taking care of our elderly, preventing crime, providing tax relief, and above all, improving public education."
