Archie Brooks

Joseph "Archie" Brooks, Jr. (D) is a Democratic politician from Des Moines, Iowa, where he served on the City Council from 1975-1995, and from 1999-2006. At the time of his election, he was the youngest city-councilman in Des Moines' history. Brooks grew up in Des Moines, then served as an infantryman in the Vietnam War. He has been divorced and re-married, and he has one son and three step-children.

CIETC

Brooks was the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Central Iowa Employment and Training Consortium, but he was forced to resign on April 6, 2006, after it was revealed that several of the consortium's officers were receiving exgregiously high salaries. Both his brother, Charles Brooks, and his stepdaughter work at CIETC. Brooks once dated CIETC's former CEO. On Jan. 17, 2007, Brooks was indicted on federal charges for his actions, and on October 20th he plead guilty to two counts.
