Andy Mirikitani

Andy Mirikitani was elected on November 1990 to the Honolulu City Council representing the 5th Council district (Manoa, Makiki, McCully-Moiliili and Ala Moana). While still a Honolulu City Councilman, Mirikitani was found found guilty in July 2001 of bribery, theft, extortion, wire fraud and two counts of witness tampering. Mirikitani resigned his council seat on November 31, 2001.
He was sentenced to four years and three months in prison for a kickback and extortion scheme and in addition, three years of supervised release after serving prison time and pay $6,884 in restitution. Mirikitani was released from federal prison in May 2006.
