Andy Knapp

Andy Knapp was the Deputy Chief of Staff to former Secretary Tommy Thompson at the United States Department of Health and Human Services. He joined HHS on July 2, 2001.

Before joining HHS, he was a government affairs consultant, and he also served as political director for the Republican Governors Association. He had also been the deputy finance director and a policy analyst for the group.

Prior to that, he also worked in the state government affairs division of consumers Energy Corporation in Lansing, Michigan.

He was part of the election effort for George W. Bush as well as the re-election of John Engler, governor of Michigan, Congressman John Porter of Illinois and Bush/Quayle '92.
