Amir I. Arbisser

Amir Arbisser (R) resides in Davenport and practices pediatric ophthalmology with Eye Surgeons Associates, PC in Iowa and Illinois. He received an AB in English literature from Princeton University and his M.D. degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He completed a National Institutes of Health fellowship in genetic and metabolic diseases and his ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, where he was chief resident. His formal education concluded with a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at the University of Iowa.
Dr. Arbisser is the founding member and president of Eye Surgeons Associates, PC, a 120-employee multi-subspecialty eye group. He is a member and former president of the Scott County Medical Society and a member of the Iowa Medical Society, where he served on the PAC Board. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology, publishes articles in the medical literature, and is a contributing editor for Ophthalmology Management. He is a member of the Board of Spring Park Surgery Center in Davenport and formerly served on quality assessment, outpatient and surgical service committees for Mercy and St. Luke's hospitals, predecessors of Genesis Medical Center.
Dr. Arbisser also served as chairman of the Board of Comprehensive Health Associates, a provider-owned third-party administrator, and was a board member of the Great Plains Physicians Group, a 500-physician IPA in eastern Iowa and western Illinois for the more than ten year duration of both groups. He founded Eye Associates Network, an ophthalmology-optometry PPO providing contracted primary eye care and medical/surgical services to employers, insurers and managed care entities.
Dr. Arbisser's professional memberships include the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and the Great Plains Genetics Society. His community activities have included Rotary, board participation in Quad City Arts and Marycrest International University, the University of Iowa President's Club and Hancher Auditorium committees, and service as a religious schoolteacher and youth group advisor.
