America Votes
From dKosopedia
America Votes is a 527 non-partisan political organization formed in July 2003 for the purpose of increasing voter registration, education and participation in electoral politics. Founded by many of the largest grassroots organizations in the country, representing more than 20 million Americans, America Votes will utilize the strategic abilities and large membership bases of the partnering groups to break new ground in electoral politics.
This historic partnership brings together organizations working on a broad range of issues including the environment, civil and human rights, women's rights, choice, education and labor. By combining resources and research, America Votes organizations will develop more targeted methods to reach out to voters on issues that they care deeply about in order to encourage greater voter participation.
At the state level, organizations will work together in planning voter registration, voter communication, canvassing, issue ID work, and GOTV activities. America Votes Organizing Directors will work in key states to ensure that local groups are effectively working together and reaching out to the widest possible audience of voters.
