Georgia Republican Party Chairman Alec Poitevint believes that what Georgia's Democratic gubernatorial candidates Mark Taylor and Cathy Cox have to say about foreign affairs is crucial. In a strange press release issued in early December Poitevint demanded that they support the Republican War in Iraq. His comments are a clumsy effort to spread public perception of responsibility for the disastrous war beyond the Republican Party leadership. Perhaps Poitevint has convinced himself that the Iraqi Resistance is paying close attention to state electoral politics in Georgia.
