Ako Abdul-Samad

Ako Abdul-Samad is a member of the Iowa State House, District 66, see Iowa State House elections, 2006. He is a former member of the Des Moines, Iowa School Board.

He has been the Vice President of the Islamic Center of Des Moines, and been a counselor in the Iowa prison system. He has also managed and served on the boards of many community agencies. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Central Iowa Employment and Training Consortium, but he was forced to resign after a salary scandal. Abdul-Samad ran a social service program that received funding from CIETC, and it is being audited. He also has connections with the Nation of Islam.
