- May 14, 1801: American Consulate flagstaff in Tripoli is cut down by order of the city's Pasha.
- May 20, 1801: Three Tripolitanian ships break free of the U.S. blocade of the harbor of Tripoli.
- July 19, 1801: Captured American captives are jubilantly paraded in the streets of Tripoli.
- 1803: Uprising against Spanish in Coban in Guatemala.
- January 1, 1804: Republic of Haiti is declared; citizenship offered to any black or Indian.
- 1804: South Carolina state legislature passes the Negro Seaman Act, which required imprisonment for any free black sailor while his ship was in port.
- February 16, 1804: U.S. Navy sets the captured U.S.S. Philadelphia afire after being unable to recapture it from Tripolitanians.
- 1806: U.S. Senate drops Rule 8 allowing debate to be terminated by a calling of the vote on "the preevious question." Cloture is not introduced until 1917.
- March 2, 1807: U.S. Congress passes law ending U.S. participation in the international slave trade, but not the peculiar institution of African Slavery itself in the U.S.
- March 25, 1807: British parliament passes The Slave Trade Act abolishing the slave trade in the British Empire.
- July 5, 1807: Disastrous British attack to Buenos Aires.
- 1808: Swedish sailor Charles Savage is shipwrecked in Fiji and becomes a mercenary for the ruler of Naulivou. In 1813 he is killed and eaten.
- 1808: 26 year old Japanese explorer Mamiya Rinzo discovers that Sakhalin is an island and not a peninsula. The Tokugawa Shogunate locks up his maps and both the maps and the truth remain secrets until thye are discovered some 18 years later.
- January 4, 1809: Louis Braille is born in Coupvray, France.
- February 12, 1809: Charles Darwin is born in Shrewsbury, England.
- April 9, 1809: Nikolai Gogol is born in Sorochintsi of Poltava Guberniya, Russia, now the Ukraine.
- June 8, 1809: Thomas Paine dies.
