- February 4: The revolutionary government of France issues a formal decree proclaiming the end of slavery in the French colony of St. Domingue (Haiti). Simply recognizes the fait accompli of the decision made by French governor of St. Domingue (Haiti) Leger-Felicite Sonthyanax to exceed his authority from Paris and proclaims the end of slavery in the colony.
- March 14: Two teenage girls, 12 year old Bett, and 14 year old Dinah a.k.a. Dean, were hanged in New York state.
