Treaty of Paris ends Seven Years' War. France loses Canada (to Britain) and Louisiana (to Spain). France keeps islands of St. Pierre and Miquelon. Spain loses Florida to Britain. The French keep trading posts in India but are forbidden to fortify them, thereby ensuring long term British imperial dominance of the subcontinent.
Charles Speckman is hanged in Britain. Before his death the prison chaplain refuses to give him the sacrament unless he provided the chaplain with an account of his life that he could sell to the press.
Korean reformer Yi Ik dies.
